Is This Writing Retreat Right for You?

Twelve Writers Only

You're right for this retreat if you . . .

  • are actively working on a novel;
  • want to write the best novel you can possibly write;
  • are excited about being away from all ordinary obligations so you can focus on your novel;
  • are excited to learn more about the craft of writing;
  • are determined to invest time, financial resources and energy in yourself as a writer; and
  • are ready to have the time of your life with a bunch of gutsy, like-minded writers.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Bar Harbor is known as the gateway to Acadia National Park, which is right in our backyard at the Sol's Cliff House. And in the front yard  is Frenchman Bay and the Porcupine Islands.

When you choose to surround yourself with natural beauty, and get utterly pampered inside a gorgeous old "cottage" (mansion), and have only supportive people who are also writers as companions, it’s easier to focus entirely on your writing in all the best ways.

This retreat gives you the luxury of time to focus on your novel.

You’ll have all sorts of wonderful spaces for writing—out on the terrace overlooking the ocean, in the library or various other nooks, at the large dining room table, on a cozy couch, or—in the case of the larger rooms—your own private room.

Seven Nights

We begin with a reception early on Saturday evening.

We have all day Sunday through Friday for your private writing time, private coaching sessions with our host, Joan Dempsey, group work sessions and readings, craft talks, and downtime for relaxing.

Our Author-in-Residence is C. Hope Clark, author and founder of FundsforWriters. Hope will be with us all week!

All meals are prepared by our personal chef, Paulette Bilsky-Phillips.

Wednesday is a "free" day with no organized gatherings—head off to the beach, go for a hike, or walk into Bar Harbor.

Saturday morning we'll have a brief farewell coffee together, then send you on your way.

Give yourself the gift of time to finish your novel.
